The city of Bergen, located on the western coast of Norway, is now the home of many students from around the world. Despite being the rainiest city in Europe and the chance of experiencing a freezing winter, a lot of young people, like myself, decide to come to Norway to study.
Listen to the comment here:
Apart from the weather, another important thing to consider is how expensive everything is. Norway is one of the richest countries in the world, and for many people it is difficult to live here. So, we have to be very cautious with our money, and try to save it for the things we actually need.
So, the question is: Why do exchange students decide to go to Norway if it’s a cold and expensive country?
A special place
First of all, let me say that Norway is a very special country. When you arrive in Bergen, you might be surprised of the views and the mountains surrounding the city. In addition most “nordmenn” speak very good English. So, in many places like the University, supermarkets and shops, you can practice and improve your English. In my case, when I chose Norway I felt very excited because I have never been here.
Also, a lot of people told me that the education system is very good and recommend that I go there. Right now, I can say that I am very happy to be here. I am in a country that is completely different from my own, and as a result of that I am learning a lot of things that I will need in the future.
It’s important to remind yourself that the years you spend as a student are some of the most important years of your life.
A great opportunity
One of the reasons why I chose to do my studies in another country, was because it will help me get a god job. Bergen, the second largest city in Norway, is definitely an excellent choice. I haven’t heard any student who isn’t happy here. At the end, your body gets used to the cold weather and you live like a native.
Moreover, the city of Bergen offers you cultural festivals, experiences in the mountains, cinema and film clubs and a lot of students organizations where you can have fun and learn a lot. In conclusion, studying in Bergen is probably one of the best opportunities in your life.
I am sure that when I finish this experience I will have become another person.
