“What number is this weeks show?”, Maiken asked. I just looked at her for a while before she realised the obvious. I have slept 3 whole hours in the last 1,5 days and nights so apologies in advance if this weeks playlist contains more weird stuff. Here we go:
Aggresso! # 2 – 19.01.2011
1. The Dreadnoughts – Cider Road (ThePunkSite.com/download)
if you like ‘em on Facebook, you will get this very varied and lovely 31-track sampler “ThePunkSite.com Presents: It’s Like Bringing A Fork To A Gunfight”.
2. Bitter End – Guilty As Charged (Deathwish/Tuba)
titletrack from the Texans 2nd fullength. Next one will be called “Three Tough Words” for sure!
3. Aristillus – Circles (Fysisk Format)
from these 17 year olds debut “Devoured Trees & Crystal Skies”, apparently picking up where JR Ewing left off. I dont think Ive heard that one before.
4. Anti-Flag – Someone’s Gonna Die Tonight (Go-Kart/Tuba)
from the Troma picture “Terror Firmer” soundtrack from 2000/1. A-F has been accused of something with the recent Arizona shootings where a 9 year old girl died and a politician got severely injured. Yes, of course.
-. interview Thee Gravemen
Maiken talked to last weekends “Mojo Workout’ers” and got the lowdown on the bandname, what it’s like to be just 2 people in a band and what that is up with the “Thee”-thing in garagerock. The producer liked the interview so much he “Brunsjed” it, ie. it is one of this weeks best reports on the radio. Expect part 2 of the interview next week. Our new (?) producer also liked the show so much he couldnt find anything wrong with it (as last week) except that we mentioned concerts in other Norwegian cities. WE’RE ON THE INTERNETZ MAN!
5. Thee Gravemen – Haunted (Dirty Water)
6. Found Dead in Trunk – Jesus Loves Me (self rel)
from their second Aggresso!-sent CD “The Fried Demon Sessions”. A little better than their previous effort. Weird but cool stuff.
7. Two Fighters Against A Star Destroyer – Coatrack (self rel)
my touring-partner from this summer is playing in my living-room this Saturday benefiting his hometowns autonomously ran cultural house UFFA who almost burned down this X-Mas (check last show for more details). From his brilliant debut “Homeless Puppies on Crack”. Lychee, myself and Blood Command are also playing, all acoustic.
8. Knuste Ruter – Der Du Er (Fysisk Format)
from “Gjennom Veggene”. Also benefiting UFFA this weekend @ Barrikaden in Oslo on Friday w/3 other bands.
9. Anti-Poison Slammer – Fold the Curl (Tonehjulet Kräftpest)
the most obvious pick from the all-Norwegian “I Dont Wanna Be Part of Your So Called Punk”-comp. Main-feature in the Norwegian Punk column.
10. Kafka Prosess – 90 Åra (live/download)
from their Ungdomshuset in Copenhagen, Denmark 4/05/86-concert made available in its entirety together with their brilliant “Ingen Fattige, Ingen Rike” at cloudsofcancer.blogspot.com. This weeks classic in the above-mentioned column.
11. Les Savy Fav – Excess Energies (Frenchkiss/Tuba)
from the NYC indierockers 5th full-length “Root For Ruin”
The re-run is up at the usual places, meaning www.myspace.com/aggressoradio and http://srib.no/musikk/aggresso-musikk/intervju-med-svenske-engelskmenn-og-om-trndersk-sttte/
Or listen to the directors cut (with shorter versions of the songs to fit the 59 minute-limit) on Sat morning at 1am.
Next week; expect to hear all the things we didnt find time for this week; the Hey Punk DIY!-comp and Shotgun Whalers (sorry guys) and the brand new Jimbo Jones album, res-erected from the vaults in the north, + interview with drummer Sustain as well as Maikens interview with Thee Gravemen part 2, a full report from the UFFA benefit-gig in my livingroom this Saturday and, um, some Punknews I guess. Maybe we’ll hear from reporter Kaspar as well? We saw him briefly yesterday and he looked well.
